Sometimes the simplest fresh ingredients are just amazing with the slightest bit of attention. A little sweet and sour, a little heat and spice, lots and lots of sesame and snappy green crunch.
This 5 minute side hits a lot of right notes. Make it into a meal with sesame noodles.
Ingredients
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
2-3 cups sugar snap peas
1 teaspoon honey
2 teaspoons mild vinegar (white balsamic or cider)
Pinch red pepper flakes (or more if you like it very hot, a pinch will warm your lips with a kiss of pepper, not overpowering)
2 tablespoons roasted sesame seeds
Small pinch salt
Instructions
In a skillet heat oil over medium-high heat
Add garlic, stir as it sizzles. When it begins to to color, remove garlic from oil and discard (This cooks so fast, you’re looking for garlic flavored oil, not pieces of garlic.)
Add sugar snap peas, they will blister and hiss a bit in the oil.
Add remaining ingredients and toss for 3 minutes.
These work well hot or cold, and will maintain their crispness.
